Mallard Class - Year 4 and 5

The Mallard Class has children in year groups 4 and 5 and is taught by Mrs Atkinson and Miss Manders. Mrs Beck also supports in the class for four mornings a week.

Mrs Atkinson
Hello, my name is Mrs Rebecca Atkinson. I have taught at Billinghay C of E Primary School for ten years now and have worked in years 2, 3, 4 and 5. This year I am teaching the Mallard class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Within school I am also the Numeracy and P.E. subject leader.

Autumn Term
We have an exciting term ahead in the Mallards class.
Our topic for the term is Time Travel with a particular focus on the Tudors. We will be learning about Tudor life, Henry VIII and Tudor exploration. The children will be making and designing time machines and using them to write explanation texts. We will be using the theme of time travel to also write diaries, newspaper reports and poetry.
Numeracy this term will focus on solving problems using all four operations, measuring, data handling, shape and fraction work. Children will be using ICT to create graphs and spreadsheets to aid their data handling work.
Science this term focuses on keeping healthy, micro-organisms and moving and growing. Linking to the keeping healthy topic, our D.T project is to make a healthy drink. We will be joining up with the children in the Chaffinch class to do this.
We are looking forward to a fun filled, hard working term ahead.
