Promoting Fundamental British Values.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is "right" and "wrong", all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

The Lincoln Barons’ Charter Trail was set up through the streets of Lincoln to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta in the summer of 2015. Lincoln Castle houses one of only 4 remaining copies of the document. Magna Carta is of great importance to British life and values, influencing British political life, law and liberty and being described as the ‘greatest constitutional document of all time’. To coincide with the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta celebrated in Lincoln with the Baron’s Trail in the summer of 2015 and linking to the importance of teaching our pupils about acceptance and engagement with the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty we held our own Billinghay Baron’s competition in the October 2015.
